how to start a Youth SVP group?
Youth SVP is well organised and managed by a
full-time experienced youth officer and a team trained
diocesan volunteers. The services of the youth officers and the various
support resources are available free of charge.
Youth SVP operates the latest child protection
procedures in co-operation with COPCA and all Youth SVP
members are covered by public liability and personal accident
insurance taken out with the Catholic Church Insurance
Association.
there are 3 easy steps involved in starting a Youth
SVP group
|
Step 1 - Find a Group Adviser
You need to provide an adult who will support the young people and be
involved initially in setting up a suitable activity. We
call this person the Group Adviser. The Group Adviser need
have no previous knowledge of SVP and two or more adults
can share the role.
|
|
Step 2 - Contact the SVP Youth Office
When you have your Group Adviser, contact Paul Lever at his office (see
contact us). Paul will set up a
meeting with the Group Adviser. This meeting will deal
with the sort of community activities undertaken, the
meeting structure and the various resources available.
|
|
Step 3 - Be ready for the SVP Youth
Officer's Presentation
Paul Lever, or one of his trained colleagues will return at a later date
to give a video presentation to the young people. A follow
up meeting should be held shortly afterwards for any young
people interested in setting up a group.
